Torque Converters
Triple
Tested Quality
TCI®
strives to produce the best torque converters in the industry. Part of
the process involves ensuring that each unit is built to spec. Regardless
of what category or price level it may fall into, every TCI® torque
converter is Triple Tested during assembly.
Once all the prep work on
the component parts has been completed, the impeller is welded to the
front cover. Immediately following this process, a pair of dial
indicators are employed on a rotating table to verify that the impeller
body and pump drive hub remain true.
Each unit is then
pressurized and subjected to a leak test to confirm the integrity of all
the weld seams. Lastly, each unit is computer balanced to reduce
annoying and potentially damaging drivetrain vibrations that would occur
from an unbalanced torque converter. That's Triple Tested so you can be confident you're getting a
torque converter that's
ready to roll.

Flywheels and Flexplates -
TCI®
flywheels for GM applications are .035" thicker than stock and the starter ring is
welded to both sides of the flywheel for additional strength.
Constructed from a high tensile strength material these flywheels resist
elongation and cracking. All 168 tooth flywheels have dual GM bolt
patterns and are sized for stock 3/8"
mounting bolts and can be easily drilled for 7/16" diameter high performance torque converter applications. SFI 29.1
approved.

Most 4L60E and 700R4 transmissions
have only six clutch plates in the 3-4 pack. This package increases the clutch
pack to nine without having to do any machining or modifications to the drum.
Improves 3-4 clutch life and the 2nd to 3rd shift quality. Eight Kolene-treated
steels, nine high performance frictions.

High Performance Flex Bands
The Alto Hi-Energy band is an all new, high-strength, stock width band perfect for
heavy duty use in applications up to 450 horsepower.
The Alto Red Eagle® Powerband™
and Kevlar® Powerband™ bands are 18% wider than original equipment providing greater torque capacity and more positive 1-2 shifts. The anchor area on these bands is extra thick, heat treated, high-carbon steel construction to eliminate the stretching and breakage associated with stock bands.

new, OEM assemblies. Replacing the forward sprag assembly and
low-reverse roller clutch is a must when building a high performance
700R4/4L60E. Our forward sprags are 29-elements which makes them an
ideal upgrade for earlier 700R4 transmissions that were built with
weaker sprags from the factory. Why risk failure by taking a short cut?

Have
you ever suddenly lost reverse, 2nd and 4th gears in your street
machine? You're not the only one as the OEM sun shell assembly is a
known weak point in the 700R4/4L60E. SPX Filtran has retooled the sun
shell and improved it by making it thicker and revised the splined area
that is prone to fatigue failure in the OEM parts. If you've got a heavy
vehicle or an excess of 450 horsepower, the TCI® 373900 Beast
sun shell is a cheap insurance policy against failure.
